Making It Better
a field trip for your entrepreneurial spirit

Las Vegas, Nevada
November 28-30, 2006

Charles Handy, one of the world’s innovative business thinkers, tells a story about visiting a vineyard in California. As the vintner was showing him around and talking about his plans for the future, Handy said, “You don’t have much land here. How can you get bigger?” to which the vintner replied, “I don’t want to get bigger. I want to get better.”

Handy has a lot to say about that philosophy. He writes, “Personal growth has no limits. Everything else does...Businesses can grow more profitable by becoming better, or leaner or deeper or more concentrated without growing bigger. Bigness, in both business and life, can lead to a lack of focus, too much complexity, and in the end too much to control."

I couldn’t agree more and I want to help your business get better. If you lean towards the Small is Beautiful school of entrepreneurship, here’s your opportunity to learn how to bring more creativity, inspiration and fun into your entrepreneurial journey.

Small, Sassy & Profitable?

Would your business be better if you knew...

  • How to find inspiration all around you?
  • How to make your business a creative adventure?
  • How to use your business to make a difference in the world?
  • How to market through attraction?
  • How to gather support for your dreams?
  • Dozens of ideas for enriching your business daily?
  • How to form creative collaborations?

Come to Making It Better and you’ll learn how to integrate more of those things into your business, as well as learn how to Outsmart Resistance and to Operate from Your Entrepreneurial Core. All of this learning takes place in a highly interactive setting with plenty of attention to the specific challenges of your business.

Why Las Vegas?

Contrary to popular perception, Las Vegas isn’t just sand and slot machines. If you know where to look, you’ll discover an entrepreneurial hotbed teeming with creativity and boldness. In fact, it’s a perfect classroom for nurturing your entrepreneurial spirit. No kidding.

So in addition to learning inside the meeting room, we’ll also be exploring the lessons this unique city has to offer anyone wanting to create a business that is bold, unique and fun.

We’ll take a look at the way Cirque du Soleil combines creativity and commerce. We’ll visit a chocolatier who transplanted her business from Wisconsin. We’ll spend time being cultural anthropologists studying the customs and behaviors of those whose imagination contributed to this unlikely citadel of success. Most importantly, we’ll uncover ideas from big businesses that can make our small businesses better.

Who Should Attend?

Anyone who agrees with Charles Handy’s advice to “Be good, get rich, but stay small.” If you believe that business is a marvelous vehicle for personal growth, social activism and making a difference in the world, Making It Better will give you new tools and resources to help your business shine.

And, of course, we’re keeping it small so every participant will get personal attention and ideas for making their business better.

What Have Others Said

It was a wonderful, magical and inspirational workshop. I met the exact people I was looking for.

It’s the most fun and inspiration you could pack into three days.

This seminar will be a giant step, a hot air balloon launch, a jet flight toward everything you ever imagined.

Rarely have I laughed so much and learned so much. It has been a truly life-changing experience in so many ways. I feel like I have found my natural habitat, where I can joyfully express the whole of who I am. Nothing will ever be the same again.

Before I came to this seminar, I had an idea of what it was about, but I really had no idea what to expect. It helped me see that paradigm of business as it is can be changed and my business can be used as a vehicle for fun every day and to share my gifts with the world. I feel that this seminar with like-minded spirits has really changed me and I will be forever grateful.

Before You Sign Up

Whether you’re just getting your business off the ground or have been up and running for years, Making It Better is designed for those who want to play better and bolder.

To make it the ultimate learning experience, we ask that you don’t give in to the party atmosphere of Las Vegas during the three days (and nights) of the seminar. If you have a spouse or partner who would like to come along and make this a mini-vacation, we prefer that you extend your stay so that you aren’t distracted during the time of the seminar.

Finally, we ask that you commit to being present for the entire duration of Making It Better including the dinner on Thursday evening.

How To Enroll

If Making It Better is something you’d like to attend, we encourage you to enroll as soon as possible since hotel space is limited. Because Las Vegas is a popular destination you’ll get the best flight times by booking early. You’ll receive travel information once you’ve enrolled.

Tuition for this event is $637 payable by check or credit card sent to Barbara Winter, PO Box 35484, Las Vegas, NV 89133. You may also enroll online.

Cancellation Policy: If you cancel, enrollment less $60 handling fee is fully refundable on or before October 1, 2006. If you cancel on or before November 1, 2006, you will receive a 50% refund, minus the $60 handling fee. After November 1, 2006, your enrollment fee is nonrefundable.

We don't need to push life so much as we need to experience it more elegantly, to be motivated more by inspiration than by ambition.
